Behind Bend, the City of Redmond, Oregon is the second largest city in the Central Oregon area and one of the fastest growing cities in Oregon. Redmond is located about 15 miles north of Bend and has a population of around 26,000. If you are flying in or out of the Central Oregon area then you will be visiting Redmond since Robert’s Field, the regional airport is located here. Similar to Bend, Redmond has a nice historic downtown area that has been recently revitalized and has many restaurants and shops to explore.
At an elevation a little lower than Bend at 3,077 feet, the weather in Redmond is generally a little warmer than Bend and they get a little less snow here. Home prices in Redmond are also lower than in Bend, and there are more opportunities for homes with acreage in this area. For those people priced out of Bend or those looking for a little bit smaller and quieter town, Redmond is a great and still affordable option.
Outdoor activities are one of the main draws for visitors to Redmond. There are several golf courses located in Redmond, a BMX bike park along with a new mountain bike trail network that was recently built, lots of different trails for hiking, and one of the best rock climbing areas in the US at Smith Rock State Park. There are also horseback riding and Off Highway Vehicle riding areas nearby.
